报告人简介：闫泽斌博士2016年毕业于华中科技大学新葡的京集团35222vip，现为北京大学光华管理院博士后。闫博士的主要研究对象是组织间关系管理和公司创投（corporate venture capital）及被投企业管理。熟悉的理论背景：社会资本理论，企业行为理论和制度理论。
Abstract:
Developing social control over suppliers is of great importance for a buying firm to generate competitive advantages. However, a buyer cannot develop equally-important social controls on all suppliers due to the constraints of resources and attention. Whether the buyer’s differential social control within the supplier portfolio generates or undermines value is not well explored. This study takes a portfolio perspective and draws on the social capital theory to examine the overall value generation of a buyer’s differential social control strategy. We combine both primary survey and archival data of 130 Chinese manufacturing firms and their supplier portfolios, finding that the buyer’s differential social control within its supplier portfolio negatively affects its performance. This negative effect will be attenuated when technological difference among suppliers are larger or suppliers are spatially more dispersed. And the effect also depends on different environmental uncertainties, in which the negative effect will be stronger when demand uncertainty is high, but be weaker when technology uncertainty is high. The study extends our understanding of the role that social control plays in the whole supplier portfolio beyond a dyadic perspective and suggests important managerial implications for the supplier management.
